{"id":258,"date":"2011-09-30T16:37:57","date_gmt":"2011-09-30T16:37:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.drmop.com\/?p=258"},"modified":"2011-09-30T16:38:31","modified_gmt":"2011-09-30T16:38:31","slug":"android-and-ios-market-share-whos-ruling-the-roust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.drmop.com\/index.php\/2011\/09\/30\/android-and-ios-market-share-whos-ruling-the-roust\/","title":{"rendered":"Android and iOS Market share &#8211; Who&#8217;s ruling the roust!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I recently came across this great article on <a title=\"Techcrunch article - Android And Apple Now Command Nearly 70 Percent Of U.S\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2011\/08\/30\/android-apple-70-percent-smartphone\/\" target=\"_blank\">techcrunch<\/a> and thought it a worth while mention to you budding game and app developers.<\/p>\n<p>According to this article Android now has 41.8% of the US market (up a staggering 5.8% on last quarter), whilst Apple&#8217;s iOS has a very respectable 27% (up 1% on last quarter). RIM also has a very respectable 21.7% (4% drop) and Microsoft a 5.7% share (1% drop).<\/p>\n<p>From these figures it looks like Android is stealing the share from RIM and Microsoft and probably a few other lesser known platforms that share the bottom 2% of the market. I&#8217;m quite surprised to see Microsoft losing ground already considering that their offering hasn&#8217;t not long since left the gates. Maybe the new Mango update and Nokia alliance will help fix that.<\/p>\n<p>With the imminent launch of Amazon&#8217;s tablet the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0051VVOB2\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=sharetops-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399373&amp;creativeASIN=B0051VVOB2\">Kindle Fire<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=sharetops-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B0051VVOB2&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399373\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/>, does Apple have a fight on their hands I wonder. I think its a distinct possibility as its priced at less than half the price ($199) and Amazon have a large existing user base.
